About Me
I’m a neurodivergent reader, writer, and editor. I write poetry, creative nonfiction, and fiction. I earned my MFA in Creative Writing from Seattle Pacific University in 2017. I earned my BA in Writing and Religion from Berry College in 2015. For three years, I led adult and teen creative writing workshops at the Springdale Public Library in Springdale, AR. At one of these programs, I discovered my love of editing fiction. I went on to edit books from writers at those programs.
My background makes me a unique editor. I concentrated on poetry in my MFA, and those two years of intense focus taught me how to play with language and write lyrically.
I’ve always been a grammar nerd, but tutoring English Language Learners for two years taught me even more about the irregularities of our language. I love grammar, phonics, and spelling, so I’ll notice things others don’t in your work.
And finally, in 2020, during self-isolation, I wrote my first fantasy novel. Since I’ve been on both sides of the process — editor and writer — I know what the experience is like for you, and I want to work with you in a spirit of encouragement and respect. Writing is playful and magical, but it’s also technical and detail-oriented. And it’s so. much. work.
As an editor, I will respect your writing and your vision. I’ll take some of that work off your agenda. And I’ll bring my own unique skillset to your manuscript.
