My Process
Reasons you may want an editor:
Prepare your manuscript to query agents.
Prepare your manuscript to self-publish.
Prepare your manuscript to share with friends or family.
Prepare your manuscript to clarify the plot so you can start writing the next book in the series.
I can:
Correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation mistakes, so you don’t have to think about it.
Help you create full and complex characters.
Hook readers from the first page.
Give you ideas to order your plot elements to increase tension and drive the story forward.
Trim the excess and zero in on the heart of your writing.
Identify places that can be expanded to benefit your story.
Elevate your prose and writing style.
Interested? Here’s how it goes:
Step 1: Free sample edit.
Submit up to 1,200 words of your manuscript and receive a free sample edit of your choice (copyediting, line editing, developmental, or a combination).
Step 2: Want to work together?
Send me your manuscript, and I will confirm the total rate for your project.
I charge half of the confirmed total before I begin and half when I’ve finished editing to your satisfaction.
I will give you a deadline by which you can expect my revisions.
Each of us will sign a letter of agreement that I will provide.
Step 3: I get to work!
While I edit your book, I’m available over email for any questions you may have. I’m also happy to provide short updates each week. I will respond to any emails within 72 hours.
Need a different timeline or payment plan?
I’m able to accommodate personalized timelines and payment plans. Just ask!
I Value your work… and that includes emails
All communications and submissions to me are strictly confidential. Your work will not be shared in any way with anyone. I work in track changes in Word or Google Docs. I will give you kind and honest feedback in the margins. If you choose developmental editing, you will also receive pages of notes and suggestions on plot and character edits. All of my edits are suggestions. Your work is yours, and you choose if and/or how to incorporate my edits.
